In the corner of my bedroom, there lies a small yet magical space that I cherish more than any other: my personal library. It’s not a grand room with towering shelves or gilded decor—just a nook carved out of my daily world, but to me, it’s a gateway to infinite stories, knowledge, and calm.
The heart of this little library is a worn, wooden bookshelf that once belonged to my grandfather. It stands against the pale blue wall of my room, its shelves packed with books of all shapes and sizes. On the top shelf, classic novels like Pride and Prejudice and To Kill a Mockingbird sit side by side with my mother’s well-loved copies of Jane Austen and Mark Twain. Below them, science fiction novels—Dune, The Martian, and Ender’s Game—line up like spaceships ready to launch me into other galaxies. The bottom shelf is a mix of poetry collections (Rupi Kaur’s milk and honey makes me smile every time) and thick textbooks, their pages filled with notes from late-night study sessions.
Beside the bookshelf sits a worn armchair, covered in a soft, cream-colored blanket. It’s my “reading throne,” where I spend hours curled up with a book, a cup of chamomile tea steaming on the small wooden table beside me. A green desk lamp casts a warm, gentle light over the pages, and a small potted succulent on the windowsill adds a touch of green life. Sometimes, when rain patters against the window, I’ll open a book—like The Night Circus or Little Women—and feel like I’m stepping into another world, safe and warm in my room.
This library isn’t just a place for books; it’s a place where I grow. Last summer, I picked up a biography of Marie Curie, and her story of curiosity and resilience inspired me to work harder in my science classes. Last winter, I read The Alchemist, and its message about following my dreams made me sign up for a creative writing workshop. Even on days when I’m tired or stressed, just sitting in my library, flipping through the pages of a favorite book, calms my mind.
My room’s library may be small, but it’s filled with everything I need: stories that make me laugh, lessons that teach me, and a quiet space to be myself. It’s more than just a collection of books—it’s my sanctuary, my adventure land, and my teacher all in one. And for that, I’ll always be grateful for the little library in my room.
